Provotorov Freedance Company

FREEDANCE is a new dance genre, created by Sergey Provotorov, focused on unlocking archaic, primal nervous system states and rediscovering life and movement through deep internal awareness. It addresses how modern life leads people to live on automatic patterns, dulling their ability to feel movement and life truly.
The method uses the “freeze” stress response, rather than fight or flight, creating a pause where the body and mind can reset and self-reflect, enabling a “rebirth” of the self in a new, authentic form.
Practiced in minimal, quiet, spacious environments—often in darkness or with eyes closed—FREEDANCE removes external distractions and familiar movement patterns, encouraging individual inner exploration without complex partner work.
The practice emerged from collaboration with cognitive science research comparing dancers’ flow states with meditative states of Buddhist monks, finding similar brain activity patterns. Read the scientific study here.
Ultimately, FREEDANCE invites people to “stop and freeze” to sense the internal movement and life hidden beneath routine, encouraging a continuous and conscious “reassembling” of the self beyond ingrained habits and social conditioning—leading to a renewed, living experience of being.
Based on these principles, Provotorov Freedance Company was created between Sergey Provotorov, Alena Veraxo, Anastasia Boyko and formerly Viktroria Novoselova.
